Fear has an important orientation function. But it can also block us from solving problems and changing things.
In particular, the awareness of my existential freedom and personal responsibility for shaping my life can trigger fear. If I accept responsibility for my respective life situation, I have to show myself. Showing oneself, to be true to oneself, often triggers fear: on the one hand of rejection, defeat, shame, conflict, but also of victory, pleasure and joy.
The risk is rewarded by feeling alive again, perhaps for the first time in a long time, at the centre and in charge of one’s own life.
Feeling a deep connection to oneself is an antidote to fear.
