Change

One approach to problem solving in Gestalt is to make the problem tangible.

In Gestalt, there is as little talk as possible. If a problem needs to be solved, it is made tangible. If a desired change does not occur, the forces that maintain the status quo are to be experienced.

We are not so much interested in why a problem has arisen, but in the nature of the problem and how we contribute to the problem. Through Gestalt work we learn to understand how we ourselves are often part of the problem.

Through this experience of personal responsibility we find ways out. These are not rational solutions, but holistic ones.

In order to solve problems, we need access to our

  • Feelings,
  • Body awareness,
  • Imagination and
  • Knowledge.

Sustainable change that really suits us therefore grows from within.
