All our life experiences flow into the formation of meaningful wholes. In order to really understand Gestalt, one must have experienced it.

All our life experiences flow into the formation of meaningful wholes. Experiences are always holistic, they have a

  • physical/sensual,
  • mental/emotional and
  • mental/cognitive aspect

and are thus stored in our memory.

We can interrupt this natural process of self-regulation through manipulation, self-control, avoidance and distraction or it is hindered by external circumstances and people.

The goal in Gestalt therapy is to restore the self-regulation of Gestalt formation.

The method consists of of continuously directing our awareness and to concentrate on the here and now.
